brain bee

Sophomore Momin Waqar recently made school history with his outstanding performance at the USA Brain Bee, a prestigious national neuroscience competition held at Rutgers University. After winning the Vermont Brain Bee in February, Momin advanced to the national level, where he competed against top students from across the country. The competition tested students’ knowledge of brain anatomy, sleep science, neurological disorders, and more through a written exam, lab analysis of real brain specimens, and MRI-based diagnostic challenges. Momin’s skill earned him a spot in the final oral elimination round, where he secured an impressive second-place finish...the highest-ever placement for a Vermont student since the competition began 16 years ago.

Though students can only compete in the national Brain Bee once, Momin plans to stay involved by helping other high schools start or expand neuroscience clubs. Learn more about the Vermont Brain Bee at vermontbrainbee.com.
