Everyone is heading off for vacation, but first it was a busy day at SBSD. At Chamberlin, there was an Alphabet Fashion Show, Orchard held their Winter Sing Along, RMCS students visited their neighbors at Allard Square and City Hall and sang for them, students in Mr. Carlson's science class had a science museum to present their projects on ecosystems and the high school had A Block with popular activity bead jewelry and introduced new activity, Drumline! That wraps up 2023, but we look forward to more busy days in 2024!

All SBSD schools are closed Monday, December 11th.

Our Family School Relationships Survey is here! Between December 4-December 22, we would like to hear from South Burlington families about their experience in our schools. All details here www.sbschools.net/familyschoolsurvey

Roll out the red carpet, the Rick Marcotte ZEMs are open! Principal Lissa McDonald led the 5th graders in a parade before they cut the ribbon and saw their new classrooms for the first time. Safe to say they were excited! Thank you to the RMCS PTO and @dewconstruction!

Our local Moose Lodge 1618 donated 25 backpacks and school supplies! Thank you to Doreen who delivered the backpacks on Monday. We are grateful for their generosity and thankful for their community partnership. If your child needs a backpack with supplies, please call or email Lizzie Pacheco epacheco@sbschools.net or 802-652-7202 .

If you're planning to drop off your student in the morning or pick up your student at dismissal, please follow these rules for everyone's safety. Staff members are handing out name tags for you to place in your windshield. We ask that your clearly print the name(s) and grade(s) of your student(s) and place the name tag so it's visible through your windshield. This will help us identify your arrival quickly and we will be able to call your student to the car for pickup. Thank you!

Reminders: Classes begin at 8:05. Students arriving after 8:05 will be marked tardy. When students haven't arrived by 8:30, they are marked absent. If your child will be late because of an appointment, please call the main office to let Sue or Lizzie know and they will mark attendance accordingly. Thank you!

Mrs. Duell’s class attended “Kindergarten Boot Camp” where the students had to pass a series of tests proving they could properly use the following tools safely and correctly: pencils, glue sticks, scissors, crayons and markers. After each test the students earned a badge and were able to move onto the next challenge. I’m happy to report that all cadets passed our first round of boot camp!
