Welcome to Rick Marcotte Central School!

On August 24, 2005, Central Elementary School was officially re-named Rick Marcotte Central School. Mr. Marcotte was a beloved teacher, principal, and mentor to many in the South Burlington School District for over 3 decades. He was the principal of this school from 1987-1994.

We will continue the legacy of Rick Marcotte as everyday we strive to meet all learners where they are, and to elevate their skills, confidence, and knowledge to new heights. We are ever mindful that students come first. As Mr. Marcotte noted in a 1980 note to his staff: "Your principal makes the basic assumption that all Central School professionals and supportive personnel will continue in a long-standing commitment to make our school one in which the students come first; not the curriculum, not the building and its equipment, not even the faculty and staff. For the student body is what Central School is all about. Students are the reason for our professional existence."

We certainly will carry forth Mr. Marcotte's philosophical ideals and values. As always, we dedicate ourselves to nurturing and developing all of our students emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively to build caring and respectful learners.

We look forward to a wonderful 2005-2006 school year.
