Hands On Nature is a hands on science program offered through a partnership with Four Winds Nature Institute and the financial support of the Rick Marcotte Central School PTO. The program involves a two-hour training workshop every other month, and a commitment from the volunteers (parents or other community members) to present the materials in the classroom at a time agreed upon by the teacher and volunteers. Generally, volunteers are in the classroom approximately an hour. Each class needs a minimum of two volunteers.
The workshops are held from 8:45 to 10:45 am in the cafeteria at school beginning in September, generally they are the first Wednesday of the month. All materials are provided for parent and community volunteers except a snack for the students, if desired. Workshops are taped to allow those unable to make the training the opportunity to review the material presented.
